New Jersey Electrical Technology Program Launches With South Plainfield Ribbon-Cutting

Lincoln Tech's South Plainfield, New Jersey campus will mark the launch of a new Electrical and Electronic Systems Technology (EEST) program with a public ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, October 30, 2026. The event, running from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., will include campus tours and remarks from school officials and local elected leaders.

What the Program Offers

The EEST program is designed to prepare students for work in roughly one year, training them to repair and maintain residential and commercial electrical systems. According to projections cited by Lincoln Tech from onetonline.org, New Jersey's electrical and electronics industry is expected to add more than 17,000 jobs by 2034. The South Plainfield campus joins more than ten other Lincoln Tech locations nationwide that already offer this training track, alongside existing programs in diesel technology, heavy equipment operation and welding.

Employer-Sponsored Training Pathways

Graduates of the program will have the option to pursue additional manufacturer-sponsored training through partnerships with companies such as Johnson Controls International and the Food Processing Suppliers Association. These employers reportedly cover tuition costs for accepted applicants and, because the advanced training is offered only at select Lincoln Tech campuses, also cover relocation expenses for students who must travel to participate. This arrangement is intended to lower the financial barrier between completing a certificate and starting a job in the field, though acceptance into these employer-sponsored tracks is not guaranteed and depends on each company's own hiring criteria.

Community and Local Participation

The ribbon-cutting is scheduled to include remarks from Lincoln Tech Chief Operating Officer Chad Nyce, South Plainfield Mayor Matthew P. Anesh, South Plainfield Councilman Derryck White and Edison Mayor Samip Joshi. The event is open to the public and the media, and is being held at the campus located at 901 Hadley Road in South Plainfield. Those interested in attending or learning more about the program can contact the campus directly at (908) 756-7155.

Context on Workforce Demand

The projected growth in electrical and electronics jobs reflects broader national trends in skilled trades, where employers in manufacturing, building maintenance and infrastructure sectors have reported ongoing demand for technically trained workers. Prospective students considering any career training program are encouraged to independently verify job placement rates, program costs and accreditation status before enrolling, as outcomes can vary by campus and by local labor market conditions.
